I use two of these light panels when I need consistent lighting for doing panoramas

EAGTAC D25LC2 Clicky

I highly recommend High CRI LED for light painting to reproduce extremely accurate colors, this is one of the cheapest options out there currently. You will also need a special 18650 Battery which is rechargable with this special charger Nitecore i4

streamlight

Streamlight Ultra Stinger Xenon

Xenon bulbs have a very warm tint and work incredibly well on red rock found in places like Arches National Park

starlite

Rigel Systems Skylite

I do not use this light for light painting, but instead for maintaining my night vision. Check out my blog post Flashlight to Retain Night Vision to learn why I recommend this light.

black diamond

Black Diamond Storm Headlamp

Another light that I don't light paint with, but it plays an even more important task; getting me to my location! It has a very bright LED for finding the trail that is dimmable to a very low level. It also has red lights to help with night vision, although they don't get as dim as the Rigel.
