Recommended Accessories for Night Photography

Mindshift rotation180° Professional

You need a good backpack to carry all that gear out into the wild! I've tried many different packs and the Mindshift is by far my favorite. See my full review here

Mindshift rotation180° Panorama

A cheaper and smaller option from Mindshift

shutterboss

Triggertrap

The triggertrap can be used as an intervalometer, cable release, timelapse, etc. when paired with a smartphone or iPod Touch. It's cheap (assuming you have a smartphone), works extremely well, and the app is free.

shutterboss

Velo ShutterBoss Intervalometer

A must have for night photography. It's used to take exposures longer than 30 seconds, take continuous shots for star trails or meteor showers, etc. The ShutterBoss costs a fraction of the Nikon or Canon version and performs just as well.

mc36a

Nikon MC-36a Intervalometer

If you prefer original Nikon equipment this is for you, mine is still functioning after many years of abuse.

Rent from Borrowlenses

tc8n3

Canon TC-80N3 Intervalometer

This has a small advantage over the Vello; when inserted it locks into the camera, I have lost a Vello because it fell out when using it.

gloves

Venture Heated Glove Liners

Do your hands get cold extremely easy? Have Raynaud's? These are the gloves for you. They are expensive and not perfect, but if you know the pain of hands that will not warm up on their own, these are a must have.
